19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

He defended four early chances in a competitive final set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
